Kvanttinova ecosystem – accelerating growth
Kvanttinova is an ecosystem for players in the field of chips and chip-based systems. The ecosystem brings together innovative circuit design and advanced materials, enabling the creation of unforeseen devices and products, from design to proof-of-concept validation.
It consists of companies and experts working with semiconductors, photonics, and quantum technologies. The ecosystem also includes supporting players, such as Enter Espoo and other regional offices and other valuable support service providers.
The Kvanttinova ecosystem operates around VTT’s and Aalto University’s unique concept of shared use cleanrooms and piloting facilities in Micronova, OtaNano, and the coming Kvanttinova Hub in Espoo, the capital region of Finland. The ecosystem covers all capital region of Finland and is supported by the national semiconductor industry.
Kvanttinova ecosystem is facilitated by Kvanttinova Ltd, a joint company of VTT, Aalto University, and the City of Espoo. This institutional backing provides long-term stability and credibility that only a few ecosystems can match.

KVANTTINOVA HUB
Scaling up the success factor
Kvanttinova hub, expected to be completed in 2028, will expand the current shared cleanroom facilities offered by VTT. The new building will be located next to Micronova. At the premises, companies can utilise a wide range of 200 mm processing capabilities supporting diverse micro-, nano-, and quantum-technology applications. The expansion will also bring 300 mm processing capabilities.

Kvanttinova is a semiconductor, microelectronics and quantum technology ecosystem based in the capital region of Finland, with a hot spot in Otaniemi, Espoo. The ecosystem brings together innovative circuit design and advanced materials, enabling the creation of unforeseen devices and products, from design to proof-of-concept validation. The ecosystem builds on the longstanding tradition of deep-tech research at Aalto University, research and development at VTT and the industry – one could claim the ecosystem as a deep tech powerhouse in Finland.
Word Kvanttinova may refer to three things:
- Kvanttinova ecosystem – the deep-tech ecosystem in the capital region of Finland
- Kvanttinova hub – the upcoming extension of VTT’s piloting and development hub to be built next to Micronova
- Kvanttinova Ltd – company that facilitates the ecosystem and activities in there, owned by Aalto University, VTT, and the City of Espoo
